![]() I worked for years at VTR mechs and think i'm pretty good at mechanical things, but these are a nightmare! Nobody can teach or describe them very well! I am amazed at how they were designed and who managed to do it! You just have to set aside some time, keep cool and keep turning it slowly manually through the cycle and get there. By pushing at things at stages of the cycle, i found the sticking part. I had to just sit and look at how it was working, you must have something connected to whatever senses the record sise and presence that is supposed to slide and is stuck. I'd assembled a part wrong and a thing was supposed to slide back to prevent the arm moving over. It would keep putting down on the last record. I had a similar problem after dismantling all the linkages and degreasing when i reconditioned a 1961 Type A changer. I would venture there is something binding in the Tonearm Shaft mechanisms. They are a very interesting design that is hard to describe. Several areas must be taken apart and cleaned to ensure proper operation. He must be in his mid-80's and is a real hoot to talk to. The Zero 100 is sure is interesting to watch but I'm not too sure I would want to mess with it on a daily basis! #Garrard zero 100 service manual manualsOne last thing, he had lubed and fiddled with all the mechanism prior to getting the manuals and he says he went back and cleaned everything then re-lubed according to the SM instructions, but he was concerned he might have missed some oil or grease that is in a place it shouldn't be. it would be great to help him out with this issue, so any suggestions would be appreciated. I know nothing about this particular turntable myself and I am hoping there is a switch or something that he has set incorrectly or some common fault that could be checked. ![]() But when playing a single record (with of course the single play spindle) and the turntable starts the auto-return cycle, the tonearm lifts and returns to the rest position but then instead of it lowering on the rest and the platter stopping, the arm then moves back to the start position and lowers to the record and then the motor turns off. Perhaps someone could suggest a fix.Įverything works great when he uses it in stacker mode. So he has pretty-much got it running again, but he is having one last problem that he says is not covered in the SM. #Garrard zero 100 service manual manualso I downloaded (from here - thanks again to this great site!) and printed out the owner's manual, service manual and test reports that I could find on vinylengine for him. I am pretty sure he doesn't have any internet access and was trying to get the Garrard running without any reference material. So the fellow that checks out the electronics for a local thrift store that I frequent has been trying to get his personal Zero 100 (I don't think it is a 'c') running. ![]()
